圣诞节(christmas)是基督教的一个重要的节日，定于每年12月25日，纪念耶稣基督的诞生，同时也是普遍庆祝的世俗节日。

圣诞节的由来

Christmas圣诞节就是为了纪念“圣子诞生的节日”，而“圣子”就是指的耶稣基督。

传说为了拯救人类的sin罪恶，上帝决定让他的独子基督降生人间，帮助世人更好的了解上帝，赞美上帝，以救赎人类的灵魂。于是，耶稣就在12月的24日晚上出生了。所以，12月24日夜被称为“Christmas eve圣诞夜”或者“平安夜”。

关于”圣子的诞生”，上帝亲自导演了一场戏，故事是这样的。传说耶稣是由处女玛利亚所生，她的未婚夫名叫约瑟。听说这件事后就想要和她分手，于是神派遣天使加伯列在梦中晓谕约瑟，叫他不要因为马利亚未婚怀孕而不要她，反而要与她成亲，并给孩子起名为“耶稣Jesus”，意思是要他把百姓从罪恶中救出来。

当玛利亚快要出生的时候，政府规定必须要到伯利恒申报户籍，可是当他们抵达伯利恒的时候已经很晚了，而此时孩子又要出生了，没办法只好在一个马棚里暂时歇脚，并产下了耶稣。

在耶稣死后的一段时期内，人们并不过圣诞节，在大约100余年后，才慢慢开始有了圣诞节的雏形。据说世界上第一个圣诞节是由罗马主教圣克里门于公元138年倡议举行的，而教会史籍记载的第一个圣诞节是在公元336年，由于圣经里面并未记载主耶稣具体诞生于何时，所以最初各基督教世界庆祝圣诞节的日期各不相同，直到公元440年，才由罗马教廷统一规定12月25日为圣诞节。

圣诞老人的由来

传说中的圣诞老人是一位身穿红袍、头戴红帽的白胡子老头。每年圣诞节他驾着鹿拉的雪橇从北方面来，由烟囱进入各家，把圣诞礼物装在袜子里挂在孩子们的床头上或火炉前。

其实呢，圣诞老人是一位基督徒。在公元4世纪的时候，一位名叫尼古拉斯的教徒把自己的全部财产捐给贫苦的人民，自己终生侍奉上帝，他最喜欢在暗中帮助穷人，而“圣诞老人”就是他的别名，这个名字出自他偷偷帮助三个女孩子，给她们送钱的故事。他死后被尊称为圣徒，并被描绘为身穿红袍、头戴红帽的白胡子老头。每当圣诞节来临时，他就驾着鹿拉的雪橇在房顶滑行，并由烟囱进入小朋友的家里，把圣诞礼物装在袜子里挂在孩子们的床头上或火炉前。
